English 10 integrates a survey of world literature with instruction for writing in many styles for a variety of audiences. Students explore the writing process by revising and editing their work for clarity, elaboration, and organization. The inclusion of world literature encourages students to relate to the political, social, and philosophical perspectives of each important historical period and culture. Students analyze how the works of authors in their respective time periods have influenced the lives and literature of many people. During the course, the students practice techniques for improving their own writing styles and fluency in writing and literary response. Students also develop reading strategies to assist them in a recursive reading process.
